Although we are a nondenominational private school, we reinforce values to create an atmosphere of mutual respect, understanding and consideration of the ideas and feelings of others; to develop children's self esteem, personal development and wellbeing. Our Values Program is reflected in our Health & Character Education Curriculum which is taught from grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. However, it is encouraged and contemplated in our daily interaction with students during homeroom, flag ceremonies, our teaching methods and general school environment throughout all grade levels. Educators from Early Education School through High School work on a different value every month and relate it throughout the curriculum and the school activities or holidays that correspond to that particular month.

ESL Program
Saint Joseph School offers English as Second Language Program (ESL) for those students who do not have the level of English required for the entry grade determined by a standardized test results.
The ESL program is designed to help students who are learning English as a second, third, or in some cases, a fourth language. We offer this service starting in First grade all the way to Eighth grade.
This program focuses on developing and strengthening English skills, in reading, writing, speaking and listening, as well as the social, instructional, and academic language that students need to engage with peers, educators, and the curriculum in schools.
During the month of September, students are assessed using the WIDA MODEL - Measure of Developing English Language Program to determine whether the student would benefit from the ELL-English Language Learners- services. The proficiency levels in speaking, reading, writing and listening is the data we utilize to differentiate instruction in the classroom to help ELL grow in each area; and also work with the classroom teacher through collaboration and co-teaching. This includes whole class and small-group instruction-Push in.
Saint Joseph School follows an international/U.S. type curriculum, while also complying with the curricular requirements of the Dominican Ministry of Education.
